St Michael's Head of the River
St Michael's Head of the River Committee would like to thank those clubs who entered the Head scheduled for last Saturday. It was with great regret that we had to make the call to abandon because of safety concerns just before midday. While the alternative of attempting to run it on the Sunday was of interest to some clubs, we fully appreciate the logistical difficulties that this presented to many clubs. We will look at alternative dates and will advise clubs of any rescheduled date in due course. Once the decision to abandon was made on Saturday, we immediately refunded all clubs 100% of their entry fees despite having incurred significant non-refundable costs . In a good year we aim to make a profit and in a bad year it is our belief that we should be prepared to absorb any costs incurred. The clubs which have been loyal to this event over the past 28 years incur their own costs on the day and we believe that we should not retain a percentage of the fees to cover our costs as this puts us in the position of being the only ones not to suffer a loss.
Once again many thanks to those who travelled and hopefully we will see you in O'Briensbridge again later in the year for a rescheduled event.
